UT GOTY 436 Patch Question

I downloaded UT GOTY about a month ago.
I need the 436 patch and I cannot install what I have downloaded because
it's for the
retail version and asks for a CD, which I do not have.
Is there a version of this patch for the downloaded program?

Thanks

So let me get this correct. You illegally downloaded a game we love and
play and that you can buy for less than £5. You now want us to help you get
it working.

I don't think so.

Hell no, I did not illegally download it. I make enough money that I can buy
my software.
I downloaded the demo from www.download.com which had 5 uses of 15 minutes,
and then I had the option of BUYING it for $19.99 after the demo ran
out...which I HAD to because I enjoyed the game so much.

Quite insulting for you to just stereotype me for asking a question. I'm
sure I'm not the only person in the world who has this problem.

By the way...here's a copy of the email I was sent for purchasing my game. I
have "X'd" out my name and email address...also my purchase reference so no
one can ILLEGALLY get a copy to play for free:

My apologies for the previous post. I Did not realise UT was available from
there.

As to a patch for a downloaded version of the game I don't know of one.
There were only 2 types of Patch 436 I know of. The original and the "NO
delta" patch for people who had the game bundled with a video card. You
could try that. Or buy a cd version Its £5 in the UK for the GOTY version
elsewhere probably the same. Or take it up with the people who sold you the
game.

We get a lot of warez monkeys in here, the initial response wasn't
unjustified so you won't get mileage from being upset about it.

To answer your question, I don't know, this has never been asked in here
before and I've never known a legitimate downloader before. I can't see
a workaround, other than skipping 436 and going straight to 451 (
www.utpg.org ). Some in here don't like that version, I never had any
problems with it, but it's the only solution I can think of.

We have had quite a few people who needed to update without the cds, use
the no delta version and you should be good to go.

For starters, you get a considerable performance drop.

The more complicated issue is this:

Epic turned over the code to a bunch of bozos who have done virtually
nothing with the code in well over two years. What little
modifications they made were to address security issues, but there are
3rd party solutions that address most of those anyway. Things that
worked before the patch (like Creative's enhanced EAX package) didn't
work afterwards. Before 451, they came out with a server-only version
440 that broke a *bunch* of stuff, including web admin on Linux
servers. Given their miserable track record and seeming lack of
activity, my opinion is that these people are incapable of doing the
job.

The general consensus in this newsgroup is that the 451 patch might be
OK for servers, but it doesn't work well for clients. You can play on
a 451 server while still at 436, so that's not a problem.

Others will surely have different opinions, but that's mine.

So when you buy the cd retail...is this an old version of UT GOTY, or do
they do any updates?

Thanks for the info.

Hey, you said that people can get Unreal Tournament for free and you showed the original message and it said:

License holder: XXXXX XXXXXX
Purchase Reference: 1-XXXXXX

It turned out in X's, can you please tell me what it actually is without the X's.

Thanks
!
