I have a suspect MSI 945GCM7 V2 motherboard and a working Intel D945GTP motherboard. The only identification on the CPU in the MSI is: 2L71219 OA116 - no manufacturer's ID. Would the CPU in the MSI run in the Intel? Is there a site which shows compatabilty between different motherboards?
Thanks

Should be good, as both are socket 775 boards. Best bet is to just google the specs, and compare socket types.

Seems both motherboards support the same processors - with a few different ones mentioned. Problem is I have no idea which processor it is.
This is all as a result of the PC dying a few days ago. Have bought a new PSU and MOBO all to no avail. Now about to check that the memory is compatible. I suspect not as both MOBOs support Kingston DDR2 533/677 but MSI MOBO had DDR2 800 in it and has always worked until now.

If u can boot up in dat mobo,
Go to google search "CPU-Z" And download it and install!
It shows all your computer specs, including processor!

Sorry, but that's no use when I can't even boot my PC.

In the future just go to the mobo manufacturer website and check CPU compatability. Not all motherboards as you now know support all CPU's
