Formatting and data?

I had a quick question for you guys. I reformated my old harddrive that i now use as a slave drive in my current PC. I have seen totally filled up that harddisk with new files and data and I was wondering if there was a way to get some of the old data I had back before i formated.

I was under the impression that once you format a drive and fill it up that all the overwriten data from the format is gone forever. Is this true?

if you fill it all up than yes, it will be tough, in that case, need to go to a data recovery professional.
  2. So it's still not completely lost even after that? :)
  3. It may not be completely lost. Are you trying to wipe it out so it can't be recovered, or are you really trying to recover data?
