C2D Bottleneck

I upgraded my graphics card from ATI Radeon 5670 HD to ATI Radeon 6870 HD. I've also upgraded my PSU from 450W to 750W. But my problem now is i think my C2D E6750 is bottlenecking the graphics card.

My motherboard has LGA775 socket and is capable to support Intel Quad Core. Can you guys suggest a good quad core cpu to eliminate the bottleneck? or should i just change my whole pc to run on amd phenom ii x4s?

P.S. I can get Intel Q8200 in my locality for 137.5$ ( I do not live in the US, i live in the Middle East )

The q8200 is clocked too low to help with the bottle neck issue, and it's a terrible overclocker, I recommend not getting it. What you need is a good overclock on your chip to around 3.0 to 3.2 if possible, or a similarly clocked quad, like a q9550 or better.

At 3.2+ you should be fine, and you would have saved yourself some money. Forget the q8xx series they suck, and your chip clocked to 3.2 will be faster than an e8400 wolfdale dual core. Is you chip at 3.6 right now? I just saw you added your system.

no that was before.. my computer reset itself when i restarted it once by pressing the button on the chassis. dunno why, but the temps were all stable... perhaps thats just the way it is.

ill just OC it again to 3.6

Do some stability tests, Prime 95, OCCT.
you might have a voltage too low-

Well i admit, but as for the Q 8400 Oced to lets say to 3.6, no bottleneck will occur, i have one of these chips. Oced they are fine, un-oced well simple quads
Thats why i said a Q 8400 or higher.

^ Got ya, but part of the problem with the q8xx is the lack of overclocking ability. I'm not sure you can get 3.6 out of a q8400 with out a hassle because of the low multiplier. To get 3.6 out of the q8400 you will need 450 on the fsb that's pretty high for a quad, and can prove difficult to keep stable in the long term.

It seems you really dislike the Q8***, well- i got it for more than 6 months w/o a crash- Here you are :D
And it does perform really nice when oc.

I don't dislike it, I just think there are better options in this situation. I don't think having a chip run stable at 450FSB is good advice for the OP. So for him to run this chip at the frequency your saying, it is totally contingent on him having a motherboard that can run quads at 450FSB+ 24/7, I personally disagree with that recommendation.

FYI i have P35-DS4 Gigabyte Mobo. i think its good enough to handle 450FSB. But my only worry is the CPU.. ill run prime95 now.. my c2d is at 3.6 again and i see a little increase in fps.. but still dont think my 6870 has enough legroom

I don't see that- Its fully stable and a good enough quad. Its up to the op
The higher Q series the better-

Squall you really should do thorough testing on the chip before you start playing around. An unstable overclocked chip can perform worse than a stock one in certain conditions. What games are you playing? At 3.6 you should be fine in most games.
