Need help with crashing computer. BSOD + Kernel-Power 41

Hello all i have been trouble shooting a problem for a good 6 months now and cannot find it.

im about to just start over because i hate this.

I am getting Kernel-Power 41 Critical system fails.

It is giving me a BSOD or freezes the computer completely and i have to click the reset buttion.

I RMA'd my MOBO thinking that was it, so i have a fresh MOBO.

Friend let be borrow his RAM, CPU, GPU. Tested and still happened.

It happens the most when i am running the prime95 torture test.

New mobo, happens on both CPU, GPU and ram sticks.

I have tested the HDD's with no errors.

only think left is the PSU or MAYBE another bad MOBO????

can someone tell me if a bad PSU can cause this problem??

or what i can try next?? i have taken my system out of raid 0 and just have a main and slave HDD.

specs below.

Windows 7 x64 ultimate

MSI 790X-GD70
AMD 3.4ghz 965 black
EVGA 9800GTX
Dual 1TB WD Carver Black
4GB (only using 2gb ATM) munchkin
have extra fans and cooling for CPU

PSU is

More about need crashing computer bsod kernel power
  1. anyone have $0.02 on this?
  2. Go to this site http://hcidesign.com/memtest/purchase.html. Try running the memtest to see if you have a bad motherboard. See if you're DIMM slots are defective.
  3. Disable all the power savings settings. See if you have a scheduled task that runs after you close the PC and cancel it.
  4. I have ran memtest.

Even ran multi memtest's for extended time.

I thought memtest was to check if the memory (ram) was bad by loading data into the ram not the motherboard.
  5. Never failed when i ran memtest.

Fails when i run prime95 torture test for max heat and test it hard.

    fails fast.
  6. Just ran memtest again, no problems.

    I also ram Memtest86+.

it went to a screen before bootup and ran.

    complete with 0 errors found.

Does this rule out the ram?

    what else can i test?
  7. Did you check your CPU temp? Also try looking at audio driver, you might have more than 1 installed.

im on a fresh reformat of win7 x64. i dident even install audio drivers they auto installed with windows 7.

how can i check what audio divers are installed??

my cpu temp is good. never gone above 49 under HEAVY load. then freezes.
  9. ok, i found 2 audio drivers.

one is High Definition Audio Bus Diver

the other is High Definition Audio Function Driver.

could they be messing with each other?

below is both lines from the program DriverView.

    HDAudBus.sys 0xfffff88003ec5000 Sound Driver High Definition Audio Bus Driver 6.1.7600.16385 (win7_rtm.090713-1255) Microsoft Corporation Microsoft® Windows® Operating System 7/13/2009 5:06:13 PM 7/13/2009 5:06:13 PM C:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\HDAudBus.sys A

    HdAudio.sys 0xfffff88005164000 Sound Driver High Definition Audio Function Driver 6.1.7600.16385 (win7_rtm.090713-1255) Microsoft Corporation Microsoft® Windows® Operating System 7/13/2009 5:07:00 PM 7/13/2009 5:07:00 PM C:\Windows\system32\drivers\HdAudio.sys A
  10. another line i have found is

    Microsoft Trusted Audio Drivers.

    could this be causing it?

    drmk.sys 0xfffff88005000000 Dynamic Link Library Microsoft Trusted Audio Drivers 6.1.7600.16385 (win7_rtm.090713-1255) Microsoft Corporation Microsoft® Windows® Operating System 7/13/2009 6:01:25 PM 7/13/2009 5:06:30 PM C:\Windows\system32\drivers\drmk.sys A
