Harddrive Troubles

I am having trouble with one of my hdd's.. and it is pretty scary. I removed it from my laptop (no power / no battery) and put it in another computer, scanned the drive with gparted and there are no partitions.. My fear is that I short circuited the pcb (on the hdd) and it needs to be replaced. When I have it plugged in along with my linux system there are a bunch of errors on boot. Is there any way to save my hdd? Please help.

UPDATE: I used testdisk and I am getting a read error on every cylinder. But the hdd powers up fine and doesn't make any unusual sounds.
