Problem replacing 8800gt with 460gtx

Forum Graphics & Displays : Graphics Cards Problem replacing 8800gt with 460gtx

Word :    Username :

As the title suggests I have a problem.
Replaced a BFG 8800gt with a palit 460gtx to allow for upcoming direct X 11 games.
Now have far worse performance, in all games low fps and even jerky in the menus.
Went into safe mode and cleaned out the drivers and re-installed, no improvement.
Any suggestions please.

power is running to both connectors? all the adapters (if used) are secure?

both adapters are plugged in - I will unplug and plug back in later to double check.

No adapters needed/used on the silverstone

You can't upgrade XP to 7, so I'm not quite sure how you managed that. What steps did you follow when doing this?

I'm suspecting that and/or driver issue and the driver issue may have roots in the first bit.

OK, sort of solved.

I took the 460 and put it in another of my machines (i7 920, 6GB, win 7 pro) and it works fine.

The 260 I took out I put back in the other machine and it works fine......

Dont know why but both machines are happy.

I really wanted the 460 in the other machine as one of my boys plays games alot on it, but I cant be bothered to fathom out whats going on.

Thanks for all your input.

I didn't think there was anyway to upgrade completely over Vista and go from XP to Win7..
All I ever have known was a clean install from XP and that's it.
Upgrades only from Vista and lesser versions of Win7 use the anytime upgrade..
