Hi All,

Thanks for reading this. I have a problem with my new system. The specs are as follows:

i5 760
Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD3
8GB OCX 1333 RAM
Radeon HD5870
Velociraptor 300GB - 2 years old
Antec TPQ850 PSU - 2 years old
Windows 7

Also, my case is a CM Sniper, so no speaker for beep codes, I think.

I built this guy about 4 days ago, and it worked like a charm. Last night, I got a little popup saying that Windows would reboot to install updates at 3AM.

I woke up this morning and the computer appears to be failing to POST. The power comes on and the fans all start up. The Red, Yellow, and Green x2 lights come on on the MOBO, and then... nothing. No splash screen or anything. The MOBO LEDs never turn off, which is what normally happens during the boot process.

My intent is to
1)try removing 1 of the two sticks of ram, and then the other.
2)swap the graphics card with a friend's HD4870
3)swap the PSU with an old 600W thermaltake I have

Am I missing a step? Is there something else I should try? Known issue, perhaps?

This is the second system I've built, and I guess I was feeling a little bit too good about myself for having it boot and install on the first try :pfff:

Your help is much appreciated.

You might just check for loose power cables first.

Thanks, I got home and listened more carefully. There were two quick beeps under the noise of the startup fans. I thought it wasn't supposed to have a speaker.

Anyhow, that told me to reset the CMOS, which fixed the problem.

All set, thanks all.
