i was wondering which of the two is faster

Radeon HD 4670
Core Clock: 750MHz
Memory Size: 1GB
Memory Interface: 128-bit
Memory Type: DDR3
Effective Memory Clock: 1600MHz
Stream Processors: 320 Stream Processing Units
Texture mapping unit: 32
Render output unit: 8
GFLOPs: 432

vs

Radeon HD 5550
Core Clock: 550MHz
Memory Size: 1GB
Memory Interface: 128-bit
Memory Type: DDR3
Effective Memory Clock: 1300MHz
Stream Processors: 320 Stream Processing Units
Texture mapping unit: 16
Render output unit: 8
GFLOPs: 352

i havent seen a direct comparison of 5550 ddr3 vs 4670 ddr3 yet

any benchmarks, links, reviews would be nice :)

Based on the specs you posted I would say the 4670 is likely to be faster then the 5550.

^ agreed.

But you get DX11 in the 5xxx series, although that won't matter a whole lot since you won't really get to use tesslation or other features.

unfortunately specs doesn't always translate into performance, also they use similar but different architecture so it is hard to just compare them specs by specs.

as far as i know the 5xxx series uses a tweaked and improved 4xxxx architecture

that's why i need a hard evidence(benchmarks, reviews, etc) comparing the two and see which is faster, and how much faster it is

i have another question
how much slower a Radeon HD 4650 GDDR2 512MB than both 5550 DDR3 and 4670 DDR3?

Radoen HD 4650
Core Clock: 600MHz
Memory Size: 512MB
Memory Interface: 128-bit
Memory Type: GDDR2
Effective Memory Clock: 800 MHz Effective
Stream Processors: 320 Stream Processing Units
Texture mapping unit: 32
Render output unit: 8
GFLOPs: ?

The 4670 compares to the 5570 (though it actually loses by a small margin). It should beat the 5550.

If I had to choose, I'd go for the 4670, or wait to buy something else. Yeah, the 5550 has DX11 ... but if you're really going to be doing anything that needs DX11, you'll want a better graphics card than that.

although there was no option for 5550 1gb, so unless it comes with 1gb as standard this may not be accurate. only just found this site myself, seems like a good resource :)

Go with the 4650 over the 5550. It's faster than the 5550. The only thing you're losing out on is DX11. But then again, if you were looking at DX11, you'd want a card better than the 5550. A 5770 perhaps?
