I have an older computer (micro-atx motherboard) that I want to upgrade the motherboard. The one I am planning to use has only one ide connector, which will do fine for the hard drive. I also would like to keep the two ide optical drives. How, or even, can I, adapt the sata connections on the board to operate these two pata drives? Any help would be much appreciated! As you probably can tell, I am not a real whiz at this work, but I enjoy it.

Hmm whats the point in just upgrading the mother board? Unless you got it for free, you will also add a new cpu, or you need some of those ports I advise against it.

But if you are going to do it anyways, you can use a ide to sata converter card. Costs about 3 bucks

Edit: found a cheaper one for you
