front jack not working

A little more info would help a diagnosis! Do speakers or headphones work in the sound jack at the back? what kind of sound card have you got? is it built into your mother board? Have you taken the front panel off the case to make sure the jack header is connected to the motherboard? has it ever worked? what os have you got? Have you checked the sound options in control panel?
