I am looking at used towers on craigslist and

  1. C2Q will spank any of the Athlon / Athlon II family of CPU's and overclock nicely.

    Well ...

I'd pick the one with DDR3 (if available) but I'm guessing they are both DDR2.

I don't think it really matters, but the Athlon quad will move to an AM3+ motherboard when you are so inclined.

Otherwise --- pick the one you can pirate the most parts from for a future build. Compare the HDDs, cases, PSUs & optical drives that you would be most interested in moving up.

    Maybe in synthetics ....

Otherwise they are pretty much equal.

Q9550 beats it in almost everything. What you are trying to prove smartass?

So a $275 processor beats a $99 processor, what are you trying to prove?
  6. Nowadays if you look on Craiglist in USA used C2D,C2Q,Athlon x 4 etc are going for about $300 USD if you look around.
Seems pretty silly to buy a new C2Q CPU for the same price as complete used system.
    I just saw a Q9450 based system for $275!
