Which is the best performance RAM kit for my ancient Dell XPS M1530--price is no concern.

Specs needed (I believe): PC2-6400, 800Mhz, 200-pin, DDR2. Does it matter which voltage is used: 1.8V vs 1.9 vs 2.2? I don't really goos battery life. I have the laptop usually plugged in.

Please help me reach a conclusion.

Also, I may upgrade to 2x4GB for 8GB total on Win7 x64. I was looking at Corsair, but read that OCZ has a few awesome kits as well. Please help.

2 kits I've found so far. My cash limit for mem is $500.

Voltage shouldn't be a concern for you however, 8GB in that system would be a waste at his point in time. DDR2 is getting phased out thus, it is fairly pricey at this point in time. Your best option is to look for 4GB of matching DDR2 on eBay and get that. There should be plenty of (2x2GB) sets offered at this time on eBay but, it will soon be time to look into an upgrade for your machine, as sad as it seems.

Hope it helps, sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

I also doubt that your laptop will support 4GB sticks (i.e. 8GB RAM). Check and ensure that it will prior to purchase however, in all honesty, anything more than 4 is a waste. I had 8 and 12Gig's in win7 machines and didn't notice a difference than with only 4GB. Those were also machines used for gaming so, save yourself and get 4GB to pass you by until you can upgrade your entire system (laptop).
