Hey Guys, So im Building a High-end HTPC/Gaming. But im wondering which ATI 5870 to get.

Requirements:
1) Quietest Fan! (this is the most important factor to me :) )
2) Quality (i wouldn't mind paying extra if it will get me a more quality card)

Thanks

I would look at XFX and Sapphire. They are the two overall best manufacturer's of ATI graphic cards.

Sapphire Vapor-X. PowerColor PCS+ runs very quiet too (has no voltage control I think).

Hi dino 1080p

My vote goes for the Sapphire Vapor-X. I've got one and no complaints - very quiet.
I'm sure they do a 2Gb version as well as a 2Gb Toxic version.

Does anyone know if its worth the extra 40-50bucks for a "2Gb" 5870 instead of the normal "1Gb"?

hey thanks for the vote keith263! (quiet is what i need :) )
yes iv found a Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 5870 Toxic 2GB

i will go with either a regular "Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 5870"
or if its worth the extra $, the "Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 5870 Toxic 2GB"

Hi dino 1080p

I did read a review where they noticed very little difference between the standard 1Gb and 2Gb cards because
the extra 1Gb didn't increase the general performance, but I think it was different with the Toxic because of increased
core speeds.
I would suggest googling the reviews so you can make an informed decision.

If you plan to run more monitors you should go for 2GB.

I'm running 3 monitors 1 at 5040*1050 off a single 1GB 5850 and have no issues with Vram, maybe that's just me.

IMO get a 5850 and wait, the 6000 series is pretty close to launch.

Hey Thanks for the responce guys! im getting the hang of it now.

The SAPPHIRE TOXIC 2048 MB Vapor-X is around £380
The regular SAPPHIRE 1024 MB Vapor-X is around £325

My screan is a 42" HDTV. but if im going to spend £325 i might as well pay the extra £55 and know iv got a sweet card..?

(i will also be using it for "Bitstreaming DTS-HD TrueHD" 7.1 to a Logitech Z-5500 Digital Surround Sound Speaker System)

I have the Sapphire 1GB and it works great... It gets a bit loud when I turn up the fans but that's part of the deal with the 5870 card. If you plan to run 3 or more monitors then go for the 2GB otherwise put that money towards something else.
