Ok so I have an e6400 with an xfx HD 4890 on a gigabyte P-965 with 3 gigs of Ram. My cpu is overclocked to 2.9 ghz. I am also using a 500 Watt FSU blue storm PSU

Yet I get terrible performance in some games, I ran 3dmark 06 and got a score of 7180 My cpu Score was 1024

This seems way below where it should be and I have trouble running games like TF2 ithout dropping down to 30fps :pt1cable:

Is it possible my psu can't handle my card? It seems like it wouldn't just run crapy but I don't know. :heink:

Here are some specs on my psu

Output Power
Minimum Load Normal Load Maximum Load
+3.3V 0.5A 15.0A 30.0A
+5V 1.0A 14.0A 28.0A
+12V1DC 1.0A 7.0A 15.0A
+12V2DC 1.0A 8.5A 15.0A
-12V 0.0A 0.4A 0.5A
+5VSB 0.0A 1.0A 2.0A

I really have no idea what's going on this system, It might be the psu or something else.

Thanks,
Todd

500 watt psu is easily enough for your setup, if anything I would have said to lower the overclocking on your CPU a small amount, more that likely i would say that your voltages arnt suitable on the overclock you have. I havnt looked too much into it but generally i would say thats the issue.

On another note, what games do you get poor performance and also what settings are they at.

Deffinatly update to latest drivers on your graphics card, if you are on the latest try rolling them back to a previous lot. Generally poor game performance dependant on the type of performance dip your getting would indicate to graphics drivers, its the usual culprit anyways.

If none of that helps, please link in your temps during 3dmark just to check for any heat related issues.
