Hello,

I have bought the ASUS P5G41T-M LX2/GB/SI . So about the memory of the MB it says (# Memory
# 2 x240-pin DIMM, Max. 8 GB, DDR3 1066/800 Non-ECC,Un-buffered Memory) and i want to buy the
DDR2 800 but the guy tells me i can't run the DDR2 . He said only DDR3 and tells me to buy the DDR3 1333
but it doesn't say anywhere i can run DDR3 1333 and he tells my it is no problem to run it.And now im completely confused.

So my question is can put the DDR2 800 ?(my CPU is Intel core 2 quad q8300).

Please help.

Thanks.

Your MOBO determines the type of RAM that can be installed, and in your case it is DDR3. DDR3 & DDR2 are NOT interchangeable so it's DDR3 or bust. There are MOBO's that support your Intel Q8300 that have either DDR2 or DDR3, but again your ASUS P5G41T-M LX only has 2 DDR3 DIMM slots :)

If you mean the:
P5G41T-M LX -> http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.aspx?model=P5G41T-M%20LX&Cat=RAM

Specs http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_775/P5G41TM_LX/
2 x240-pin DIMM, Max. 8 GB, DDR3 1333(O.C.)/1066/800 Non-ECC,Un-buffered Memory

as long as you buy DDR3 of any speed, you're fine. alot of times, 1600 is cheaper than 1066 or 1333 even though its faster. This is just because it's the standard and sold in much higher quantities. It's backward compatible, so if you get a ddr3 1600 kit, it will scale back (slow down) to the speed of your motherboard.
