I need to upgrade my 9400 GT

I have a 9400 GT and need a good upgrade. I am not new to gaming, but I am new to the computer side of things. Buying a new power supply is not a big deal if I need to also.

  1. What is your budget?

Also the your systems full specs would be helpful.

    CPU Type:
    Intel® Core™ i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz
    CPU Speed (GHz):
    2.7
    System Memory (GB):
    5.99
    Video Card Model:
    NVIDIA GeForce 9400 GT
    Video Card Driver:
    nvd3dum.dll
    Desktop Resolution:
    1280x1024
    Hard Disk Size (GB):
    465.76
    Hard Disk Free Space (GB):
    352.52

I would like to keep it in the $300-350 range
  3. Thats a huge jump from a 9400GT. Planning to upgrade that monitor soon?

If you do, a 5850 like this would be great for up to 1080P, $280: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127500&cm_re=5850-_-14-127-500-_-Product

Or a GTX460 If you prefer Nvidia, a a little worse single card performance, but in SLI it should the match the 5850s with ease: $200 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130562

If not, something like a HD5770 should be your best bet, only $150 and should max out pretty much all games for a while on that screen: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121363&cm_re=5770-_-14-121-363-_-Product
  4. Thanks for the Information. I am thinking about the GTX460. How much power am I going to need for that. I'm not really sure what my current power supply is
  5. Just open your PC case and see it for yourself, there's must be a sticker on it...
