Heavy Problem need expert's solution

I have got 80gb hard disk, but when i want to install windows xp, it start showing 7107mb in bootable setup, while in setup (after pressing F2) it shows 80gb. whats the problem and its solution.
windows is not running, i have got DM bootable cd also, wen i start my computer, it shows error message "operating system not found"
i have done zero filling with it, but again showing same capacity.there is low level format option in DM cd and tried it also,but it cant solve my problem, when i boot the setup with xp cd, the partition of 7107mb is shown but its just shown it dont work.
please give me the possible solution

Have you tried to boot to your install CD, then delete any existing partitions on the target HDD, then repartition it, then install?
