It's possible that some cheaper Dothons have only 1MB of cache, but
I'm not sure.

Dothan's have 2meg L2 cache. Also, the speed rating is higher.
1.5Ghz=715
1.6Ghz = 725
1.7Ghz= 735
1.8Ghz=745
2.0Ghz=755
Banias processors have 1meg L2 cache and a lower speed rating
1.5Ghz=705
1.6Ghz=715
According to Intel, the extra meg of cache is worth roughly a 100Mhz speed
boost when comparing Dothan:Banias.

Don't forgot though, that Dothans are cooler than Banias processors. On a
side note, I have never seen a 1meg dothan. Rule of thumb: 2meg
L2cahe=dothan

I think there are some architectural differences beween the Dothan and
the Banias as well, making the Dothan faster per mhz independently of
the extra cache. I wonder if the Dothan also uses less power per Mhz.
I just bought a Thinkpad X40 with 1.2 Ghz Banias. I decided against
the the 1.4 Ghz Dothan model because it's quite a bit more expensive.
But I'm experiencing some slight remorse over that choice, mostly for
unrelated reasons.

The banias is 130nm and Dothan 90nm. I've also heard the dothan is cooler
and uses less juice than the banias

You download the processor id utility from Intel and run it.
