Hello,

some questions

before questions remember that i dont want to overclock but want it to be already pre oced.

1.I'd like to know which one is better between the following

the highly overclocked gtx 460 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814162056 or
the ati 5850

2.If two of the oced gtx 460 sli ed then can they be equal to gtx 480 or ati 5970.

3. Can the gtx 460 oced that i mentioned beat the gtx 470

Thanks!

Solution
1: That gtx 460 is better then a normal (not overclocked) hd 5850
2: gtx 460 SLi is better then 1 gtx 480. GTX 460 SLI will come close to the 5970 but i dont think that they are better.
3:I dont think that it will beat the gtx 470 but it will come close.

price/value is much better then the gtx 470.
HD5970>GTX480>HD5870>GTX470>HD5850>GTX460>HD5830.

SLI 460 are better than a single 480. Not quite a 5970, as that is equivalent to 2 5870s although slightly underclocked. I've seen some overclocked SLI 460s performing similar to stock 5870s in crossfire but those OCs were not factory.

If it's in your budget you should look at maybe a 5850 Vapor X.

Although IMO, OC yourself... it's not hard at all, and in fact it's kind of fun.

If you are going to get 1 GTX460... it should be the palit Sonic Platinum 1gb - They designed their own board and cooling, and its overclocked abotu 20% when ti shows up at your door. Much better brand than Galaxy too. $249.99 at newegg and comes with a $50 game for free

if you are going with 2 gtx460's in SLi, i'd go with the EVGA superclockds for 209.99 on newegg.

Thanks wolf. I just want a silent card for my rig, i can even get a 5970 or the gtx 480(no budget problem) but i have heard that they give sound like a helicoptor

I want games like assassins creed 2, gta 4, just cause 2, etc to be maxed out at 1920X1080 (full HD) resolution.

I decided that gtx 460 will be much better, this is my opinion, u r suggestion is welcomed.

Also will the gtx 460 sli be better than gtx 480 even on a p55 motherboard coz it does not support full bandwidth (2x 16).

Thanks

One 460 probably won't quite max out all the games, but SLI 460s should be quite adequete. If budget's not much of an issue, you can always get a 480 and then invest in a better, quiet aftermarket VGA cooler.

Toms just put up an article today about SLI 460s. I haven't read it yet but I'm sure it'll be good.
