Do i have any options for upgrading current system

I have got my current system to running SC2 on the lowest settings/resolution. horrible frame rates and loading times

I was hoping that i could upgrade the ram of my computer, but i am not sure if the mobo would recognize the additional ram.

The current setup is as follows:

Mobo: AsusTek Computer Inc. A2K version 1.2
CPU: AMD mobile Athlon 64 3000+
Memory: 1G (2 512) sticks
Video: ATI Mobility Radeon 9700
Hard drive: 80 GB (25% still open)

The motherboard lists the maximum memory module size as 1024 MB, does this mean 1 G total or 2 1 Gb sticks?

Can i upgrade the ram, are there any other cheap options for me to get some more FPS out of this thing.
