Is it a good idea to upgrade from q9550 to SB i5 2500k?

Would the performance be much better? The reason is that I'm stuck with an extremely cheap micro mobo which doesn't let me OC at all, and with 3gb ram 667 mhz ddr2... I was thinking to upgrade to a better motherboard and ram , but why update old hardware? I could sell the MB+cpu+ram and build another system with Sandy Bridge...

What do you think?

Excluding the K and Extreme series, last i checked, Yes.

Although I could be wrong.

Well, this guy wants a 2500K, so its KAY (excuse the terrible pun)

The answer to that question is YES on so many levels.

Brand new architecture, future proof platform for upgrades.

Also it forces you to upgrade your RAM and Mobo
