Soon I'll be buying a graphics card. My budget is $200 max. I will upgrade my graphics card next summer so this card will only be used for 1 year, or if I upgrade my motherboard and crossfire.

My system specs
Antec 900 case
Corsair 650tx
2gb Corsair DDR3 1333mhz
Asus M4A88TD-M/USB3 (1 pci-e 2.0 slot)
Athlon II x3 2.7ghz unlocked to Phenom II B25 2.7ghz x4
CoolerMaster v8 cpu cooler (the best cooler I've ever used)

I am debating with myself if I should buy an 5770 or 5830.

I don't do too much intensive gaming, I just plan to play BFBC2, The Force Unleashed, A.V.A. , Divine Souls and SWTOR if it ever comes out. I may buy the new splinter cell as well.

I do overclock, if need be.

Brand doesn't matter as long as it's not visiontek or HIS.

If you were me which would you choose?

i also read somewhere that ati will not prices of its 5770 since its already on competitive price

rumors are that they are also planning to drop prices of 5850 and 5870 since its not confirm i will confirm u about that when they officially anounce it

ati will drop prices although they want to compete with 400 series gtx 460 and 470 are doing very well in every aspect

Yeah, forget about the HD5830. The decision should be between the HD5770 and GTX 460, mainly based on how much you want to spend.
Also you haven't mentioned your native resolution which is important when deciding which card is right for you.

Well I can't wait for a price drop for the 5850. Doubt it will happen but, there's hope.

Also my native res is 1920x1200 and the res I play all my games on is 1280x768

Show me one benchmark that the stock GTX460 outperforms a stock HD5850 besides the obvious Far Cry/2 and HAWX.

yes it outperforms 5850 in these games but in most games it performs same or abit low (may 2 or 4 frames difference)
but still look at the price u wont spend 60$-80$ more for few frames

p.s there is no diffrence in 35 fps and 40 fps

So to your philosophy, the 5830 for $170 and 5770 for $150 are much better deals than the GTX460.
Spending 30$-80$ more for few frames is not smart.

Besides, if there's no difference between 35 and 40fps, then there's no difference between 30 and 35 either.

If you only want to play games at 1280x768 then there is really no need for anything more than the HD5770. Honestly it is already overkill for that resolution. For gaming at 1920x1200 the HD5770 would still be ok but the GTX 460 would the better choice.
