i bought zalmal thermal grese that comes with the brush but with many guides out there should apply it to the heatsink,cpu or both
and when applying should i use the brush or put a drop and do it an another way
using a i7 860 2.80

can somebody give me a proper guide to applying thermalpaste and heatsink and a video guide will be nice

Zalman thermal paste? The one in a small bottle with a kinda of brush?
Just paint the thermal paste thin but evenly on the surface of the proc before installing the cooler.

BTW : Why did you pick that? Zalman thermal grease is good, but ...
I hate it!...if you buy 4 bottles ...all 4 have different netto volume...get what I mean?...if you are lucky got more if you are unlucky you got less and sometime almost completely empty.
I choose to get AS5 instead of that one.

There are different ways to apply paste.

I personally prefer to make a small dot(rice corn size) on the middle of the CPU and then push the heatsink on the CPU applying a lot of pressure and slightly twisting so that the thermal paste spreads evenly without any air captured.

If you don't trust this method you can also just spread an even layer of thermal paste with a credit card or something similar. This also works.

It's really not as difficult as you might think.
