Heres what happened i ordered a Seagate Barracuda ST2000DM001 2 tb hard drive it got here ok but I was looking at some reviews and it got quite a few low ones saying it had a high failure rate. So before i mindlessly return it I was wondering if theres a simple way to hook it up to the desktop im typing on to check if its doa and not a healthy drive if there is how would i know if it was healthy or not. Also has anyone here had a good/bad experience with this drive. Thanks in advance

I can't comment on that particular model. I have had good and bad experiences with Seagate drives. I have experienced drive failures on two external Seagate drives in a relatively short period of time (both failed within months of purchase). I do have an internal Seagate drive and it has been working well for a while now as well as a couple of small external Seagate drives which I've had for years.
