os windows 7 ultimate 32 bit

I have a desktop with os windows 7 ultimate 32 bit installed in it. I already have one 4 gb ddr3 1333 mhz ram installed in it and recently i have installed another 4 gb ddr3 1333 mhz of same company . But my system is showing only 4gb ? My vendor has suggested me to change my os to windows 7 ultimate 64 bit and then only my system will show 8 gb. He has also told me that my system is using 8 gb but it is showing 4 gb because of the OS. Please help me out whether my new installed ram is a defective one or I really need to change my OS from windows 7 ultimate 32 bit to windows 7 ultimate 64 bit ?


my specs are : cpu - i7 3770 , mobo - db75en, ram - 2 * 4 gb ddr3 1333 mhz starlite ram, hdd- 1 tb seagate barracuda 7200 rpm, OS - windows 7 ultimate 32 bit.

32-bit 7 has a 4GB limit for ram. For more than 4GB you need 64-bit 7.
