I have a one TB Western Digital HD and it's been acting up over a 1-2 years now. I've never paid it much mind, but I was wondering if anyone else had this issue.

The health status on it shows CAUTION on Crystal Disk Info, but I don't think that is too much of an issue. Every now and then when I open up My Computer or something small like Firefox, it takes a while to load and kinda freezes, then it does a click noise. It just pauses for like 2-3 seconds and that is it. When i play games it never chokes or nothing, but when I alt-tab and open up another .exe file, it lags a bit.

I then bought 2 ssd kingston Hyperx 240gb's and used my OS on those ssd's and the problem still occurs. It chokes up like 2-3 seconds after i game for a bit and alt-tab to open up firefox or any other program, even my computer.

If anyone has experienced this problem please voice your fixes, it's been doing this for like 2 years now, but is still working good.

Thanks guys.

I will run a scan and let you know what I find.

Thank you.

Ok, so I ran the checkdisk features and found a few errors and it fixed it, but I am still receiving the pause.

What I don't understand is why the pause is occurring when my OS is installed on my SSD and most my apps are installed on the ssd's as well. The only thing I have installed on my 1 TB is movies and media files.

Can someone offer some assistance to this matter? Thanks again.

Could it be that an antivirus program is scanning your EXE files?

The only Anti-Virus I have is Security Essentials, and I had this issue before I had it installed, so I know that is not the culprit.

Any answers would be appreciated.

Thanks all.
