Try using this PSU calculator: http://www.antec.outervision.com/ , and see what it recommends, keep in mind this is just an estimate.

The most important thing is how many amps your friends PSU can provide on the +12v rail. Watts = Amps x Volts(12v).

You may also want to take a look at this: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/nvidia-geforce-9600... , be sure to compare the PC used in the test(Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 (3 GHz)) with your friends.

And lastly here are two sites with power usage of almost any GPU:

GeForce 9800GT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3

Power Consumption at Idle: 34 watts
Power Consumption at Full Load: 120 watts

thats right malmental.... if he had a 9500gt.....except he has a 9600gt. I believe it has the extra pcie power connector. A good quality 400w+ psu would be ideal. Most 350w psu's are pretty generic. State the exact brand and model of 350w psu and any other specs written on the side of it. Also your friends other system specs, cpu, number of hard drives?

^ Although malmental, the 4670 only runs off the PCI-E slot, and does not use a 6-pin power source.

chief, what do you know about the remake of back to the future movie coming out, who's going to play Fox.?

Do you mean the video game?, M.J. Fox will do his own voice as will some other cast members. I have not heard of a movie remake, but there was the Blu-Ray release of the trilogy last month, but a movie remake has not hit my eyes or ears as of yet.

If it was up to me I would say continue the movies as they were, the same story line and cast sadly with M.J.'s condition I doubt that is possible anymore  , three just didnt do the stories potential justice IMHO. A remake I dont know if I would be on-board with that without M.J. Fox. :(

[UPDATE] The remake rumor, IDK who started it, came about with the Blu-Ray release and the Spike TV special, but the co-creator/writer/producer Bob Gale of Back to the Future have totally shot this down and said they want to leave it they way it is and not mess with the story and just leave it in the past and just how you remember it.

oooh me found!
GeForce 9600 GT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 $69.99 - $94.99
There are 2 models of this card a 96 watt version and a 59 watt version.

•96 watt
Core Clock: 650mhz
Shader Clock:1625mhz
Cuda Cores: 64
Effective Memory Clock: 1800mhz
Power Consumption at Idle:7 watts
Power Consumption at Full Load: 96 watts

•59 watt
Core Clock: 600 mhz
Shader Clock: 1500mhz
Cuda Cores: 64
Effective Memory Clock:
Power Consumption at Idle: 6 watts
Power Consumption at Full Load: 59 watts

•For these cards a 300 watt power supply is more than plenty to run them. Unlike the GT 240 this card can be in a SLI configuration in SLI you will need 400 watt power supply if you have the 96 watt version, and 350 watt power supply for the 59 watt version.

thanks chief!
