I have an HP dv6-2155dx laptop that came stock with the Intel 1000 BGN mini PCIe wireless card which only operates in the 2.4 GHZ spectrum. Was wanting to try and upgrade this card to one that will operate in both the 2.4 and 5.0 GHZ spectrums to work with my netgear WNDR 3700 dual-band router as Intel only supports wireless N speeds in the 5ghz spectrum. I know the BIOS will not let you install any wireless card, but wondering if one of the Intel cards below may work? The current 1000 BGN card has two antenna wires as the two below do. Anything else I may need to consider outside of maybe just buying one and giving it a try?

Thanks for any advice you may have.

I would be wary of changing the wireless card without first consulting HP. They have a sneaky habit of writing their BIOS to exclude replacement components that have not been supplied by HP (even though they may be functionally identical to the HP part which, naturally, you can only get at the HP price).

Well, I contacted them and of course they tell me the wireless card is integrated into the MB. I took the card out last night so I know this is not the case. I hate HP.
