Playng startcraft 2 on dimension E510

I am hoping that someone can help me. I have a dell dimension E510 which currently has a Radeon X300/X550/X1050 Series video card. according to the starcraft 2 site I need 128 MB PCIe NVIDIA® GeForce® 6600 GT or ATI Radeon® 9800 PRO video card or better. is there a video card that fits the requirement that I can use with the dimension E510? I read somewhere that the powersupply is not enough to suport the more beefier cards. can someone help?

  1. Whats the CPU and the rest of the systems specs?
Your budget would be helpful also.
  2. so the system is

    intel pentium 4 3-GHZ
    3 GB ram

looked that the PSU and it looks like 305 W

budget is upto 150$ but am flexible
  3. Try a 4670.
You may want to look at upgrading the power supply to this:
    Corsair 400CX

    Gigabyte Radeon HD 4670

Just make sure that the video card fits into the system before you buy it ;)
  4. The E510 sucks, Its only for single slot cards, and your CPU is really bad, Id suggest an overhaul if you have the money.

The best card you can get is the HD5670, which would run fine with that 305W PSU. Your CPU might bottleneck it though.
    $90

that card will fit and run on the PSU but it being a 2.1 will cause issues. i would just get an ATI 4670. there would be little difference between the two cards with a single core CPU.
  8. I did actually mean starcraft 2 and I managed to get it running on my lenovo T61P. :) which has a Quadro FX570M though the laptop dies after like an hour of playing :), I suspect it just overheats, which is why I need to get my desktop a little more upto spec soon.

and thanks for your suggestions guys, am still debating what I am going to be doing. will update :).
