E8500

I want to know if the spec's look good. I don't know too much about cpu's but shouldn't my core speed be higher for my E8500? Please correct me if I am wrong.

  1. It's called "Speedstep", when the CPU is idle the multiplier drops to x6 from x9 with a corresponding drop in frequency from 3ghz to 2ghz.
  2. So when I'm playing a game on pc it will jump up to 3ghz?

Yes, if you run CPUz and then run something like WEI you will see the CPU speed go up and down.
  4. Okay thanks so much for the info, I thought something was wrong with my cpu.

    Nah, you're OK. Here's speedstep on a Q9550.
