Does Stock Intel Heatsink Come With Thermal Compound?

Can anyone tell me if the Intel i7-950 with cooling fan/heatsink assembly ( out of the factory box )
has thermal compound already applied...

No where in the assembly instructions does it say to apply compound.

Have looked and see what appears to be a "pattern" of small "dots" on the underside surface of
the heatsink assembly ... is this thermal compound ?

Don't want to add unneeded compound if this is what it appears to be, but likewise don't want to
assemble the CPU/heatsink without, if it is needed !

An assist would be appreciated - first time "building" from scratch and don't need to fry the CPU
because of something stupid ...

The stock cooler has pre-installed thermal compound. You don't need to install additional compound.

Thanks for the quick reply. I have assembled several computers previously but always with a "populated" ( CPU ) board.

This is my first attempt at a grounds up build and did not want to melt down the processor with a dumb mistake. Your

assist is much appreciated - I can now go forward and "create" ...

Thanks again !
