Forum Motherboards & Memory : Memory Memory slots

Hello everyone,

The question is: Can I use only 1 slot of the 4 available slots of my Z68 motherboard? Does it have to be 2 slots at a time? Can't I have 3 slots occupied, but not the final slot? And which of the 4 slots would I want to use? sorry for too many questions

Dimm slot one is normally ok to use; your manual should give you the ram configurations.

You can use any number of the slots at a time. However, you will get best performance by using either two or all four of them.

Ideally it's best to use the primary Channel as shown below; as always review your manual for 1 DIMM installation:

CPU | blank | RAM | blank | blank |
