The best thing for special needs like that is to go to forums specific for those softwares and ask which CPUs and GPUs work best with them. Then come back here knowing basically what you want and we can help you get it for the best price.

^ The first few are gaming builds (see my posts there, I did note this), however, like I said, the build by gkay09 is a true workstation build.

Here's what he said and I agree:
Quote:

CPU x2 - Intel Xeon E5620 Westmere

Mobo - SUPERMICRO MBD-X8DAH+-O Extended ATX Server Motherboard

RAM - Definetly an ECC Registered -> 2x
Crucial 12GB (3 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM ECC Registered DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Server Memory Model CT3KIT51272BB1339

CASE - LIAN LI PC-A70F

PSU - Seasonic X750 Gold

Workstation card - PNY VCQ4000-PB Quadro 4000 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready Workstation Video Card

SSD - I would definitely have a SSD just for the boot times and the app load times,...
OCZ Agility 2 120GB

HDD for apps and other high I/O operations - 2x in RAID 0

the first thing you should consider getting is the processor. unlike games, 3d software programs run off of the processor, so if you want really blazing fast render times, i would suggest getting this 6 core processor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
you may get a graphics card, but make sure that your 3d program can support it, otherwise you may just be wasting your money.
when you are buying these parts, it's best to get the latest stuff so that your computer wont be obsolete in a few years
hope this helps :)
