Boot from USB?

I have a hard drive with windows 7 on it and all my computers stuff in it. I was wondering if it were possible to put my 1tb hard drive into a hard drive enclosure and plug it into my computer and boot windows and use my computer off of the hard drive through the enclosure. Will this work? Please help. Thank you. Sorry if I didn't give enough info about this. If you need more just ask.

  1. Does your motherboard support booting from a USB device?

Why would you want to slow your system down with a USB boot drive?
  2. Yes the motherboard supports it. And i know that it will slow the system down but i don't care. there is a reason that i am doing this. I am just worried that it needs to install drivers to be used.
