Windows home server question

I wanted to know if windows home server can effectively replace raid 1 configuration?
For example, if my OS drive on the client PC fails(physically) and I have it backed up on a home server, will I be able to recover the data after replacing the client OS drive?

You should be able to yes, same as any other backup.
