Trouble installing cpu in Asrock h61m/u3s3 motherboard

So I just finished acquiring all of the parts for my new computer, but I've never built one before and I'm already running into problems.

I'm trying to install the cpu on the motherboard, but I am unable to figure out how to get the plate to close over the cpu.

Before I close it:

When I try to close it the lever will not go past this point:

I feel sort of dumb asking this, but what am I doing wrong that I can't close this thing? When It gets to that point shown above, it feels like i would have to force it down.. which I don't want to try.

What processor? Also did you check the notches on the CPU?

you do need brute force well a little lol if the cpu is seated perfectly it should secure itself fine sorry am not much help also how do you post pics on this site i use photobucket :-(
