I just bought new external hard drive as I wanted to do the back up of files on my laptop. It is Seagate, plug in, 1.5 TG.
When I chose to run the backing up files the screen came up with message - can read from the source file or disk...
then I tried to copy the files manually and the same msg came up again...
I run the check disk with - Fix File System Errors with Check Disk Utility...
I tried to copy the document on to different usb stick and it worked ok...
how can i fix it??? what is wrong with the device...
Both computer and hard drive have NTFS file system...
thank you very much for a help

This is probably because your HDD developed bad sectors and the files you copied are sitting on the bad sectors. You can try CBD(Copy Bad Disk) to copy those corrupted files off the hard disk and save them to a healthy device. The tool also logs the positions of unreadable bytes.
