I am trying to build a mid range performance pc, i have a tight budget and trying to fit something in the $1200 - 1400 ish.
Take a look at it and plz comment where can i remove/add stuff

  1. You have the right idea :)

The i7 950 has dropped in price. It is now $299 at newegg and $259 at Fry's ( you did not say where you are buying from/ what country ect.)

The GTX465 is not as good as the GTX460. The 460 runs cooler and is an overclocking beast ( very easy to do ). Asus, EVGA, MSI or Gigabyte are all great brands just look for the 1GB models. $220-240 depending on brand. No need to buy a factory overclocked version as they will all overclock quite well.

Do NOT buy a Xion power supply. Stick with Corsair, Antec, Seasonic, PC Power and Cooling or XFX and you will be good. A 500-550w model from any of these manufacturers will be enough for just about any single graphics card computer. This will leave you a bit of room to upgrade in the future.

The Samsung Spinpoint F3 is a bit faster hard drive than the WD FALS you have picked out and is generally a bit cheaper. WD does make a newer 1GB model that is just a bit faster than the Spinpoint. It is an Cavier Black 1GB FAEX model but is generally alot more money and not very much faster. The Spinpoint F3 is about the best "bang for your buck" drive.

GSkill is great memory but look around and you can find lower latency ( faster ) for the same price.
  2. Wow that alot of help, i will fix the graphic card + the hdd

Now with the power supply, why would the xion be a bad idea?

Oh and im in canada so the prices is not exactly the same on newegg.
  3. not all power supplies are made equal some companies will skimp a bit here and there others will skimp totally and build a 500 watt power supply and stick a 1000 watt label on it then you get you good brands as mentioned who wil give you exactly what you pay for

all you need and more for sli up to gtx 470
  4. CPU-Intel Core i7 950 -$319.99
    Intel Core i7 930-$289.99

    Combo cpu/mobo-NCIX Gaming Bundle P6X58D-E X58 LGA1366 Motherboard + Intel Core i7 930 Retail Processor Bundle -$509.99

    Ram-G.SKILL F3-12800CL8T-6GBRM Ripjaws 6GB 3X2GB DDR3-1600 CL8-8-8-24 240PIN Triple Channel i7 Memory -$144.99

    PSU-obsidian86's is good

    GPU-Gigabyte GeForce GTX 460 Fermi 715MHZ 1Gb -$224.55

Use Ncix they will pricematch any instock item in Canada.
NZXT retailers in Canada are Newegg,Canada Computers,PCyber,Ncix.
  5. Looks like obsidian86 and Davcon have you on the right track.
You can still save some money on the power supply if you do not plan on running more than 1 graphics card at the time but that XFX is an excellent choice for futureproofing.
