Need help finding the right board my CPU

I just recently purchased the AMD Phenom II X4 940 Black Edition and this is my first time out building a system for myself. I'm planning to to use this as my graphic design workstation. I'm looking for a board I need to handle the heavy load of using hi-res images, file & such; then occasionally do a little 3d rendering using Poser and video editing.

So far I haven't hit on several boards I saw that were recommended for this processor. If anyone has ideas on current ones available I'd greatly appreciate the input.

How much do you want to spend? For about £70 a Asus M4A87TD is a solid bet.

For one thing my processor is a Socket AM2+. It may not work in with that board. As far as expense I could sacrifice a little more cash for more "on board".

DFI DK790FX M2RS or DK790GX M2RS if you can find one, great AM2+ boards, work well with your nice 940. :D

After some frantic searching I believe I have found a winner in DFI's DK790GX M2RS. Too bad the prices are "Black Friday" friendly. :(

Oh Well; thanks for all the help!

I have that board and its been rock solid. When I got mine some time ago it was £89 / $140 and has been worth every penny.

Yeah, I managed to find and narrow down my search to one company. I'm researching them right now before I buy; they have it brand new but priced at about 165.00. A bit of a stretch but willing to pay after seeing availability for this particular socket was dimming quite fast. But thanks again for the recommendation.

I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

I'm running an unlocked AM3 Phenom II 555 in mine @3.6 quad core.

Had it not unlocked I was looking at a 940.

Seems to like Crucial Ballistix RAM although I'm sure others will be fine.

Thanks, I've been looking at some Crucial Ballistix. So hopefully I'll be done with this project before this year is out; so until I'll be waiting for the board.

*UPDATE*

Went back to NewEgg again last evening & purchased the Asus MA477D board. Turns out "how quickly I forgot" a fellow worker and I discussed about the board. Anyway...another small step forward for me.
