Hi all,

I just wanted to ask this informative community a question about having two types of ram.

The ram currently in my system is the G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800).

I found a really good deal for 8GB of ram for G.SKILL Sniper Series 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900).

Would their be a big difference between switching out my current ram and have any issues?

My system specs:
CPU:AMD Phenom II X4 965 @ 3.7
Mobo: Asus M4A87TD Evo
Memory: 4GB G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
GPU: Gigabyte GTX 460

No, there would most likely not be a big difference. It also depends on a few other factors that you did not provide, such as latency.

One thing I should point out is that your motherboard supports higher speeds than you are discussing; your processor (AMD Phenom II X4) technically only supports up to DDR3 1333 MHz (PC 10600). That doesn't mean you can't go any higher, it just means you might not see any real improvement in performance.
