Hello All, and thanks for reading my post.

I have a ep45-ds3l mobo with an oc'd e5200 to 3.75 mhz, running w7 64 bit with 8 gb of kingston hyperx ddr2 at 800. GTX 280 gpu stock #'s. The pc is runing well and is stable. I am noticing that the computer is having a tough time while playing lfd2 and fallout vegas. I am considering the q9550 as an upgrade. I have checked the cpu compatibility list and the cpu is supported. Will I get a decent improvement with that new chip, or will the mobo hobble the chip? (so to speak)

Thanks

On games that use two cores, you won't see much of a difference. On multi-threaded games, you will see a big difference.

At any rate, the motherboard will not hobble the 9550 in any way.

My OC'd systems:
GA-EP45-UD3P | Q9550 OC'd to 3.6 GHz (425 MHz X 8.5) C3 stepping :(
GA-EP45-UD3L | Q6600 OC'd to 3.6 GHz (400 MHz X 9)
GA-EP35-DS3P | E7500 OC'd to 4.1 GHz GHz (373 MHz X 11)

The UD3L is a minor revision of the DS3L.

Great, thanks for info. It appears as though you have an appreciation for that motherboard.
I just read http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/multi-core-cpu,2280...
which added a bunch of perspective.
I'm hoping that the additional cache in contrast to the e5200 assuming the prog is running with 2 cores will also aid in performance.

Thanks Again!
