Intel Core 2 Duo 3.06 To A Intel Core Quad 3.0

I am upgrading a friends computer he has a Intel Core 2 Duo 3.06Ghz LGA 775 CPU and I am going to install a Intel Core 2 Quad 3.0Ghz CPU Do I need to wipe windows Vista and install a fresh copy or do I let windows install the new driver for the CPU.

Any help would be great.

I would just change processors.. and if it goofs up.. be ready for a fresh install.

should work without reinstalling but sometimes there are hiccups.

rand is right. You should be able to change processors without doing anything to the OS.

What C2Q CPU are you planning on installing?

Upgrade worked just fine didn't need to re-install OS.
