Looking for a monitor, VERY confused.....

I'm in the market for a monitor, I'm currently using a 32" Toshiba REGZA HD TV (1920 x 1080) which is fine for most things except gaming.

I have a budget of roughly £250.

I'm not bothered about viewing angle's as I'll be sitting head on, Preferably <5ms response time. I've been looking at some monitors on various sites and I'm finding it hard to find information about "input lag" (what is this?) I'm also confused about Contrast ratio's, Whats the difference between DCR, ASCR and Typical?
The monitor will be used for manly gaming and also some CAD work.

EDIT: Forgot to mention I want a 1920 x 1080 res.

Any suggestions and answers to my questions are welcome

ASCR means ASUS Smart Contrast Ratio

ACM which means Acer Adaptive Contrast Management

DCR means Dynamic Contrast Ratio

Are they marketing gimmicks?

Technically this is the TV Tuner Card section. Lol. Why are you getting rid of that 32''. What's so bad about that for gaming?

There's no display's sub section.... LOL

My TV won't do 1920 x 1080 in anything other than DX9, Will only do <1280 x 720 in DX10 and 11.. (games only, will run DX11 benchmarks in 1920 x 1080 just fine) Besides which I doubt it's response time is any good XD

Anyway I'm trying to sell my TV and I'm going to buy an LG 23" Full HD monitor..

I know you said 1920x1080 but the extra vertical area of a 1920x1200 monitor is really nice for gaming and CAD(or anything really besides perhaps wide screen video) and that one is a good choice at a good price if you can afford it.) Here is a review;
