I got a old Impulse 486 laptop which unable to boot up due to the
battery completly drained. Now the COMS set up back to default value.
do not recognize the 'C' drive and not accepting the system clock change.
Can someone tell me what is the HardDrive setting ? It has a Toshiba HD
model MK2124FK
It is an Impulse 4S/33NS laptop.

install your harddisk drive on another computer(just connect them with
a connector which one side can be plugged on standard IDE slots while
another can be plugged on the laptop's IDE slots), and record the
harddrive settings from the BIOS operation screen of the latter
computer.

The primary problem is it does not save the CMOS setting changed.

If the laptop has been on AC power for some time and the BIOS settings
always revert to defaults, the CMOS battery has died and must be
replaced. You will have to open the unit to find the battery. It is
replaceable. Take it to a battery store to find the exact replacement.

It has a very old type , like a chip, TH1287 by Twinhead; is soldered onto
the MB. I'm still looking for it. I'm considering to buy a used laptop too.
I'm only using the laptop to run a diagnostic program for vehicles, nothing
else.
That's why I still keeping this antique.
