Can anyone tell me if I need a sound codecs inorder for my sound to work properly.

acer aspire m1610 motherboard model is f672cr.

I went to acer site, however download is no good for me because I have changed my OS from vista to windows 7 and the audio driver available for my desktop from acer, is only for vista or xp.

Do you think I should download the vista/xp driver, with an windows 7 OS, or find another means to resolving the issue.

You need to contact them and demand a driver.

Generally Vista drivers work fine for Win7 if none are available for Win7.
