For the past few days I have had a problem with getting no display from my PCI-E slots after cold boots. At first I thought it was a bad PCI-E slot but I think I have narrowed the problem down to the CMOS. When the CMOS battery is removed the system boots perfectly and the GPU will display video from either x16 or x8 slots as normal. For the first few weeks I used the onboard video exclusively and this problem only began when I added a GPU. The GPU is tested and good. I'm thinking there might be a stuck bit in the CMOS chip causing the system confusion between using the onboard video or the PCI-E slots. So when the system boots without the system battery the BIOS defaults are loaded and the problem in the CMOS is bypassed thus allowing the system to boot properly. Any other ideas or something I am missing? Also, I tried another CR2032 battery and the result was the same.
