Sine wave or square?

Hello,an evil demon has possessed my computer. But only in the truck where I run it from a DC to AC inverter. Old box ran fine for years then upgraded to ASUS P5E-VM and E8500. Fine for a year. Then screen freezes up. Gradually more frequently till it is now producing near rage.
Tried switching inverters and power supply. Output numbers are fine.
Question is: What needs AC input other than the power supply? We spend good money to get the power converted to dc for the electronics. Runs fine on shore power. So far.

The power output from the computer PSU is DC.

It looks like the AC inverter is degrading; these are cheaply built devices. (I am assuming that the DC input to the inverter is fine).

What's the output power? The E8500 can consume quite a bit of power. You said it used to run fine until you upgraded the parts, so I'm guessing you are drawing more power then the converter can supply. My guess would be you need a bigger/better converter.
