BUDGET RANGE: 2500€ including 1920x1080 3D-monitor + 3D-glasses
SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: Gaming, surfing the internet, watching movies
PARTS NOT REQUIRED: Case, HDD, Optical Drive (I'm using my old Antec Nine Hundred Two case, Samsung Spinpoint F1 320GB HDD and Optical Drive), keyboard, mouse, speakers, OS (Using Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit)
I got some questions. Should I go with 2x GTX 480 (900€) + Intel X25-V SSD (115€), or 2x GTX 470 (560€) + OCZ Vertex 2 100GB SSD (340€)? I think the first option gives more performance, or does it? I couldn't fit a processor cooler in the budjet, do I really need one if I'm not going to overclock? Which motherboard should I got with: Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R or Asus P6X58D-E? Is 1000W PSU enough for this system? And is my old Antec 902's cooling enough, if I run all the coolers at maxium settings?
btw the intel V-series SSDs are reasonable slow and are nothing compared to 2X 50gb vertex 2 in raid0. Whereas with 470sli vs 480sli you'll get more than enough FPS with either and even if you have problems in the future with a 470 sli setup 480sli wouldn't do a much better job. They are only a little bit faster.
Ohh and if you buy the 480s I hope finland is cold or you're screwed.
4 480s eat power adn you'll need a silverstone strider for them which costs around 400usd and you need a four way sli mobo which another 400. That means an extra 800 just to get the opportunity to pay an extra 800 on 2 more 480s. It's better to go with a 4-way sli mobo now and a 1200w psu if an upgrade path is so important and then scale up to 4 470s which will outperform 3 480s by a fair margin.
Also eve though 480s are "simply" more powerful than 470s. 2 50gb vertex 2s in raid0 "simply" mop the floor with that intel.
This is an entertainement setup which obviously has the purpose of entertaining. It's like in on a rollercoaster ride they are fun but not if you have to wait in line for 2 hours. And thus exchanging a few lags(I'm talking quite a small difference) for much faster load times and better responsiveness on 2.5 times more apps and proggrams seems like a worthy exchange.
And where does it say its going to be an entertainment setup?...
It says Gaming, browsing the web, and watching movies, none of switch SSD speed really has a big effect on, just loading times...not FPS. So if gaming is the primary concern of the OP, shouldn't he get the best possible graphics config for the money?
