hey everyone

I have a asus am2 plus motherboard thats 2 years old that i built
the ram is maxed out and i only have 1 pce slot on the motherboard

My specs are

athlon x2 645000 at 2.7 dualcore
4 gb of ddr2 ram
9400 gt 1 gb(pcie)
2 harddrives (250 and 320 gb each)
Windows Xp pro 32 bit

Im looking to get another 2 years out of this build
I do a lot of pc gaming and watch a lot of movies on this as well

Im looking to upgrade the video card ( i only use nvidia, upgrade to dx 11, and i have windows 7 x64 disc to)
and the cpu to a quad core or 6 core. Im willing to sink in about 250 dollars on the cpu and gpu.
the motherboard supports am3 with a bios flash and the p1e is 1.0

thanks

Check your motherboard to see how many watts it can supply to the CPU.
If it can hand out 95 watts or more, I highly suggest getting an Athlon II X4.

For a nVidia card with DX-11, the only affordable one for you at the moment would be a GTS 450, which will most likely be out of stock for a while.

The CPU is much more powerful than the GPU.
If you're willing to spend more for a GPU, I would go for a GTX 460 1gb.
